Code 9 CYP Sensor h22a4 Prelude OBD1 chipped HELPPPP
i have a 2000 prelude sh it has.. sk2 IM sk2 70mm tb msd ignition box fuel rail test pipe muffler vibrant manual tensioner cam gears set at stock....
obd1 chipped ecu... it was running very well and good for a while but now im getting a cyp code 9 after i ripped it....
heres what i tried new cap/rotor, redid all ignition wires to ensure no heat is hitting it and was sealed with shrink wrap (was done slopply but was fine), looked at all my ecu wires they where fine (i did cut them before for vafc2 but i rewired them using shrink wrap), fuel system is ok, i put stock fuel system back and it still gave the code 9. replaced ignitor... what else can it be... i tried using just the stock coil w/o any msd it still gave the code....
which leaves me to beleave it is the actual cyp sensor itself inside the dizzy... can any1 confirm before i buy a new dizzy

the cyp is behind the T-belt cover. These sensors usually cost around $150 give or take, cause it's the CYP and TDP linked together.
make sure your exhaust cam gear did not slip. If it slipped, it will throw a CYP check engine light as well. If it didnt slip, you will need to replace the distributor.

so tell me where the CKP is.....

CYP is in the distributor, CKP is on the oil pump for OBD2 engines.

That's what I might be thinking then, is the CKP :p....I actually just changed that sensor or whatever it is inside the dizzy a few months ago. You won't need a whole new dizzy, you'll just need that sensor which Auto Zone sells for around $100 or so with lifetime warranty

my Obd2 US ecu does not throw a CYP code, could it be the obd1 ecu something went wrong in there? we only have crappy tires and parts source here, they dont sell cyp sensors inside the dizzy
I had the same issue a couple weeks ago. My previous motor was dyno tuned, and cam was set -4 degrees. The new motor was throwing a code 9. In an attempt to start from scratch, I set the cam back to 0, and the code hasn't been back since. My .02 would be the cam could be off as someone mentioned earlier...
Sorry to bump an ancient thread....but I'm having the same problem(s)....I just bought the whole CKP/TDC sensor assembly at the local auto parts store but now I'm seeing that the CYP sensor is indeed different and inside the distributor? If so, where did you guys purchase it?!?
