Hey Honda-tech
well I recently swapped in a 98 jdm GSR into my 98 civic. It runs and idles perfect but for some reason vtec is not engaging. I'm totally lost on this topic. Any info on this topic would help a lot.

well u should prob have a CEL on (check engine light)
things that are a must on vtec gsr-- when running a stock ecu-- i just noticed jdm gsr make sure u are using either a jdm ecu, or if using usdm ecu u need usdm gsr vtec sly (whole thing) jdm does not have a oil pressure switch IIRC
all these must be in good working order also
1. proper oil level
2. secondary butterfly's hooked up
3. knock sensor hooked
4. oil pressure sensor hooked up
5. oil pressure switch hooked up
6. proper operating temp
7. working o2
i think that is about it i may be missing one or two little things

the way to test ur vtec sly
un plug it take a strip of wire 3-4 feet long strip both ends then put one end in the vtec sly plug end on tab and then touch other end to (+) term on battery if u here it "pop" it is good if not no good
u may also unbolt it from 3 bolt (just sly) not whole thing and check the screen in it might be dirty
