ok so i picked up a b16 head. the stamping on the back indicate that its a '92. so my question is what cars came with a b16 in '92? and when im looking for parts what car do i search for?

 

Jdm eg sir..... the only USDM model that came with a B16 is the 99 00 civic SI (EM1)

Yep, '94 - '97 Del Sol VTEC came with a B16A (B16A3 for '94 - '95, B16A2 for '96 - '97)

94-97 del sol vtec - B16A2 and B16A3
99-00 civic si - B16A2

If you wanna know what cars period then the list is bigger.

so his couldn't have been from a sol. Cause its stamped '92.

 

With the stamp of 92, it's safe to say that it's a JDM B16A head, since there was no USDM B16a engines produced until 94.

And as far as what cars came with a B16A in 1992,
JDM Integra, JDM Civic EG6/EG9 and JDM CRX/Delsol EG2, there may be a model that I missed, but you get the point.

FYI 1992 was the first model year for the Gen 2 B16a.

USDM equivalent has already been stated above.

yes. almost all B-series parts are interchangeable.

 

For gaskets, mechanical parts, yes either will work.
If you are looking for sensors, than go with whatever OBD you are running.
If you need OBD1 parts, stick with 95 Del Sol Vtec
If you need OBD2 parts, stick with 99 Civic SI

Del sol VTECs were never equipped with b16a2's, only b16a3's. The b16a2 did not hit US until 99 in the Civic Si's.

Could be from a USDM B17A1 found in the '92 - '93 GS-R. They used a B16A head.

Could very well be, I didn't even think about the B17, since he stated it was a B16 head and was wondering what cars had the B16 in 92.
I stand corrected.

 

(1) Since the OP's engine is a B16A (no number at the end) it's not a USDM engine. It's a JDM engine.

(2) Since it's stamped as a '92 it's from either a model year 1992 or 1993 vehicle.

To clear things up, since people keep calling others wrong and then just continuing on posting wrong information after that...

These are the B16s available in the US:

B16A2: 1999-2000 Civic Si
B16A2: 1996-1997 del Sol VTEC
B16A3: 1994-1995 del Sol VTEC
