vibration or wobble issue
I'm going to appologize in advance for any spelling errors because I'm posting this my phone.
Anyway, I have an 88 crx si with na jdm d15b swap and an si tranny. When I turn hard to the left I have a very hard vibration or "wobble" in the driverside front wheel. I hear a pop sometimes and then it'll virbate. It'll. Go away if I jerk ther steering wheel left to right. My thoughts are its the halfshaft, I've replaced it 3 times in ghe last 3 weeks, its helped but it eventually comes back. A mechanic at work says it sounds like the axle shaft is slidding out of the cup in that sits in the tranny. If this is the case, how do I go about fixing it? Is there a difference in the axles for the years of the crx? I've been getting 88 crx halfshafts could that be the problem? Any thing would help at this point.

You check your front wheel bearings? Jack up your car in the front and grab your tire at the 9 and 3 o'clock position and shake it back and fourth. And the 12 and 6 o'clock position. If you wheel shakes when you do this your wheel bearings are bad. Try both your right and left front wheels.
You mean shake down? I've done all that, its all pretty solid, if I jack the car up nothing seems wrong at all. I'm. Going to have to check it when my front end shakes again. Any other ideas?
call your local parts store and ask them to check part number thru the year to see if you get a different part number. Also check you wheel bearing by lifting car up off the ground and then check for play in front wheels. check you suspension to see you also have any play and check bushings etc. Try some white quick dry paint or marker and paint all bolts and where they seat for position or movement. gl.
I'll try the paint idea. I checked part numbers and they were the same. Curious though, why are the clutches for the 88 si's different than the 89-91 si's
