Default Anyone ever wired up the gas light on eg6 cluster?

I recieved my gauge cluster today and noticed that there is a gas light that im assuming illuminates when your fuel is low on the cluster, but i see it doesnt work when plugged into our usdm cars, Has anyone ever wired this up to make it work? If so please explain thanks.

From what I have read was the CX & DX did not come wired from the fuel pump to illuminate the gas light (if you bought a cluster gas light). I heard there is a DIY on how to wire it in... I'm on the search...

Deschlong is the man I would ask. I know this has been discussed before, and IIRC he chimed in with good info about it.
Although they never came on 5G civic's in the US, so it may take more parts from a JDM/EDM model to get it working.

5th gen Civics don't have a low fuel sensing unit.

^^ this

I have yet to find a DIY, there was one but it was from '03 or older and the website 404's so its worthless.

One thing I HAVE learned is that you need the sensor from the fuel sending unit from a Integra, or just the whole sending unit, they are the same. Then you would have to run the extra wire from the sensor to the cluster harness. And its prewired in the cluster wiring.

Glad my 96' has it.

Doesn't sound like too hard of a job then, especially if you've already wired a stereo in your car. Hell you could run it with your remote wire and route it to the cluster harness.

Look in the FAQ interior section. I know there are some threads about gauge cluster alterations and it shows the wiring pinouts on the harnesses for different years and cars. I imagine you would be able to run that wire from the sending unit and just splice it into the harness.

I think DeSchong is planning on doing a DIY on this. He can tell you exactly what sending unit you'll need and where to wire it.

Indeed I am. So far I've installed the sending unit w/ low fuel sensor, and connected the wire. Still need to run the wire to the cluster, erase the black-out from the low-fuel indicator light on my CDM temp/fuel gauge, put on the new low fuel icon symbol, and test it all out.

I was talking to the Op but it's whatever. Seems like way to much effort for something so stupid as a light in your cluster telling you your about out of gas. Just my thought.

Not sure where you got your info, but this is incorrect in the following ways:
  1. 92-95 Civic vs. Integra Fuel Meters are NOT the same. It's possible to graft the rod w/ the thermistor from the Integra on to your Civic one, but this sounded like more aggravation than I was in the mood for. Easier/cleaner just to get the JDM/EDM sending unit.
  2. There is no pre-wiring for the low-fuel sensor anywhere in the car.

Thanks for the corrected info DeSchlong. I gathered up all that info from a few threads about this topic. Always handy to get the right info.
