Icon5 Acura integra front end conversion.

Hey everyone!

I'm a first time owner of a Acura Integra.
Long time lover for honda.

few years ago I bought a 1995 integra during high school.
And just recently started rebuilding it. Sadly, the previous
owners pushed the car to the limit, the poor little thing, and had many..
And I mean many Micky Mouse quick fixes. So i decided to re-dignify and restore the honor this once sexy car had back in the day. One quick way to do this is by doing the itr front end conversion. Everything is in play, just I need to get the job done right. If at all, I would like you fine and most generous car owners to enlighten me on the "price range" of the cutting and whelding for teh conversion.

and if at all, if anyone could doing it around my area. i'm around the So-Cal, LA area.
hit me up with some feed back!
Much appreciated!

Are we talking about a JDM conversion because ITR did come in USDM..? Also before you do this conversion.. MAKE SURE THIS CONVERSION WILL PASS CA Motor vehicle requirements. I remember a thread on something due to CA laws.. JDM conversion can be Illegal if some paperwork or some kind of inspection is not done. ( don't quote me though, just trying to pass info i have "heard")

Jdm conversion around here.. ( MD) is roughly .. 600-1200. Depending on How bad the frame is bent.. How much labor time to drill out excess metal on radiator support. Making sure the whole front lines up. Then labor to spot weld.

Majority of the expense is Labor and Frame machine.

It can be done by a buddy that can weld.. I have done it, but I don't recommend it unles you know EXACTLY what you are doing.

^ should help for a DIY Way to do a JDM conversion

Yeah you need the paper work from the car you are getting the front end from.
And sorry it's JDM, but I figured I was mostly from labor..
I was just praying it wouldn't be as much as 1200, since we went to get a quote
from a shop near our area to be that much. Originally my cuz was going to it but
he left to Mexico.. no pun intended, but.. Any more information would be freaking helpful!

I'm trying to do it right the first time and trying not to get ripped off..
So doing much research and opinions are helpful.

I'll start posting up some pics of the montionless process that is my car.

Thanks for the help!!ahhh!!

If you get a LEGIT shop to do it.. It will cost you roughly this much.. Don't forget the front end.. In Cali its more availible.. If you get a black housing jdm front.. 1000-1300, HIDS 1300-1600. This is the cost for the front end.. Then put it on.. Then paint..

~ 1000-1200 For putting the front together
~ 1000-1600 For the Front End
~ 800-1100 For paint.. Depending on the prep needed, paint, ect..

If you have a Paint shop that is in Collision repair.. You will prob get a deal for Install + paint..

I don't just paint half my car.. But I am totally **** about my car..

-Front - 1300 Shipped From Toronto ( got an amazing deal, but damaged hood) -150 for refund
-New C.F hood = 525 Shipped. ( would of cost 450 to repair.. soo I just got a CF)
- Install + Paint ( entire car)- 3000-3500 ( still waiting to be finished.. but this is my quote.
- Moldings ~684 ( Most LEGIT shops WILL take all the moldings and glass out the car.. which means you need new moldings...) Yes... expensive..and this is with 25% off..
- Conversion harness from PWJDM 50. For headlights and Side Markers

Just to give you an idea

~ 5909 Adding the highest costs. Granted I am doing it completly right.

Now... I wrecked my front end in a storm.. So this is my Second conversion.

First one.. Done Kinda half ***..

- Front End 1300 Shipped
- 200 Bux for friend and me to put T bar in my car so Jdm front would fit.
- Paint Entire car + prep.. 1900.. Which my car needed a lot of work.. But there was a lot of 350 grit scratches in the clear/paint. Tons of Bondo... Just horrible.. Look good from distance but not show/oem quality.

-3400

Granted these prices can vary.. But I am just preparing you for what you are going to get into.

I paid $300 to have my complete front end put on minus the wiring. I had low beams and turn signals, just no fogs, city lights, side markers, etc.

Doing the conversion isn't really hard. You just need to measure exactly. Also, you'll save time by just removing the top half of the radiator support and having the top half of the jdm radiator support welded on. I did my conversion in my storage unit using an electric drill, a dremel, and a cutting wheel. There are a couple of DIY's for it, one that doesn't involve welding and another that involves welding. I recommend welding it. I had a friend come over and weld mine. I rented a welder from Home Depot.

yeah very nice.. hmm I see..

Well the reason why i need to papers for my car is..
I got the whole front end clip from the bumper to the firewall/dash.
I intend to get it RHD conversion as well and keep all the japan signs
and badges so its more like.. my taste ya know? so doing the whole shebang.

It's going to be eye candy around LA.. know for its notorious and friendly neighborhood.. but for now I am doing just front end conversion since the right hand is a little more work. from what i have been seeing.

I told my brother( who is spotting me on the work its being done) that we could probably DIY but he doesn't know how to weld haha.

there is a collision center near by, but haven't asked them yet.
and somebody shop is asking roughly 700 for the job done, minus the paint

Need to research more though.. don't get me wrong though I love cars and would gladly pay what is needed, but i'm running on a school budget lol. hopefully i get it running before this month ends. I got some progression pics.

Post them up soon. thanks alot!
