D16Y7 + D16Z6 head?
I have a stock D16Y7 in my dx and im looking for a little bit more power. I have a D16Z6 with a blown head gasket out of my dads del sol and im looking to throw the head on my motor. I need the head, vtec solenoid, and the intake manifold? What exactly do i need?
New gaskets where applicable, possibly an adjustable camgear (not sure), and a way to activate VTEC (most preferably by way of a correct ECU). Here's a question, have you looked in the FAQ about doing the mini-me? There's tons of info on the web if you search...
y7 ecu only controls 3wire iacv. it would be best to get a chipped ecu for this swap so you can run a 2 wire iacv. i hope the z6 has a manual transmission as well.
Im doing the same swap in my dx right now.
What you will need:
-p28 ecu (You listed that)
-Get the Z6 Manifold (The Y7 sucks)
-You also will want to get the Z6 timing belt since you already have it torn apart and its better than the y7 belt
-Also go with the z6 head gasket to
-GET ARP HEAD STUDS MEANT FOR A Y7/Z6 COMBONATION (this will save you loads of stress trust me)
-You will have to redirect the oil feed line from the center top of your y7 block
Those are the needs, anything else you can tweak a little to what you want. I would go with the ex (y8) tranny.
Good luck
