CRV head problem
Hello everyone been a long time since I have been here and glad to be back. I got a 97 crv that has a bad head and was wondering if it would be cheaper just to swap a complete motor since I have a 150k on it? I found a few on ebay a few weeks back but they were jdm motors would I run into problems with just a straight swap? Not looking to upgrade the motor just a daily driver.
Thanks guys
Thanks guys
imo...
if the block is still good just swap the head! theres a lot of non vtec heads
around, specially the ones who did a LS/B20vtec conversions, you might get
them for cheap or even free at times....!!
as for the complete swap, just do a back read, theres a couple of threads here
tackling that also stating almost all the issues concerning all the full swap...

Thanks for the reply Qwrty, I don't know if the block is still ok, I didn't know about the 30k valve adjustment which killed the head. When the car is going no smoke or anything just 30 compression on cylinder 2 or 3 can't remember. The only problem is the cost to replace the head, if I had the tools and time I would give it a try but from the quotes I have been getting a swap would be cheaper if a jdm crv motor would work and the shop wouldn't run into to many issues. I am going to look into some more options on the site to see what I found.
well if compression is low, do a leak down test, it may be rings, but knowing the b20 it's prob just the head....but you want to be sure. Worse case just get a new complete engine, it's not exspensive
