Default steering rack guide adjustment

i switched to a manual steering rack and ditched all of my power steering components on my 95 Si w/ b16a swap. my manual rack was a little too loose for my liking so i simply tightened up the rack guide adjustment screw all the way and then backed it off to where my steering was comfortable to me. my question is, will it cause damage if i am a little tighter than oem spec?

When you say "loose" do you mean it had some play when centered before it would respond?

yes. it seemed like you could turn the steering wheel 2-3 inches left to right before my car was turning. i tightened it up and it feels much better now and responds quicker.
