Default is it bad to run a air filter on back of valve cover?

so i run a little air filter on the nipple coming off of the valve cover on the backside instead of running a rubber hose over to the aem intake i just cap the nipple off on the intake.
I do this because i dont want to get a roaming idle even tho i do everyonce in awhile from geting the iacv dirty.

Is there any downside to doing this or benafits besides not having blowby going intake the intake.

Also could i hook a rubber hose to that nipple and run it to a catch can to let w/e comes out into that? ( Ive never seen the little filter wet with oil/ blowby or anything)

I know its a stupid question but i really dont know

Yea it doesnt really matter. I've ran it with an air filter before and have ran it with a line going from my Intake to the extra piece coming off the valve cover. It didnt make any difference to me. Oh and yea as in you can run it either way. Not saying its a bad thing.
