93 Civic / B18 won't turn over...
So I just swapped my engine, everything is done, ready to go...so it seems.
The car will not even attempt to start. My starter was old and supposedly going out, according to the previous owner, so I got a brand new starter. Just bolted that on and still nothing.
I took a piece of 16awg wire and connected the constant powered lead on the starter to the smaller connection (whatever it's called, the connector that only gets power when the key is turned to the "start" position) to try to manually get the starter to spin, and still nothing.
The odd thing is, I hear a faint noise when the two leads make contact together. Possibly the sound of the starter trying to spin but not being able to? I couldn't tell for sure if the sound was coming from the starter or not, but I don't think it was. It's a very quiet noise.
Has anyone had a similar problem? I have tested all my wiring, everything is powered, grounded, and receiving starting signal. Still, any ideas at ALL would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

the starter is brand new and was bench tested an hour before all this...if the teeth weren't lined up correctly, would the starter even bolt in completely?
Not necessarily. If the bendix is bent, the starter will bolt up to the transmission, it just wont engage on the flywheel.
Ditto that^^^.
Make sure batt. has full charge, make sure batt. terminals are clean and tight, same goes for batt. cable on starter.
If all the above is good, and starter motor worked before install you may have turned the batt. cable stud on starter motor when tightening the nut, misaligning the contacts in the starter motor or starter motor is binding, [not turning] that would result in a "hum" when trying to start
As mentioned, pull the starter motor and bench test it. 94
