Apexi N1 muffler worth it?
Hey guys, I recently picked up '94 Civic LX as a daily driver. I have a buddy who is selling an Apexi N1 muffler that he said he'll let me have for $50. I did a little research and it looks like this muffler is worth near $200. i was originally planning on keeping my car stock, but I kinda like the look of these mufflers. Gives the car a more aggressive look (cosmetic of course lol). My only concern is how loud will this muffler be on my car? I will not be touching the rest of the exhaust. Keeping resonator, catalytic converter, etc. Will I have drone, rasp? How loud over stock will it be? Here are some pics

I have an N1 style exhaust, which obviously won't be the exact same, but I have 2.25" piping on a JDM B16A. I also have a 4-1 Ractive header (Which sucks, stay away from this header) and a catalytic converter. Can't remember if I have a resonator in the system or not. Car is very loud...It resonates a lot inside the car. I think that is because the exhaust is tucked up under the car pretty tightly, as the car has been lowered. I like the low end rumble the exhaust has up to about 3500RPM, then it starts to drone a bit. Once it approaches VTEC crossover it gets stupid raspy. Hopefully guys rocking authentic Apex'i N1 can comment.
Will it really be that loud/raspy? Without removing the resonator and cat, I figured it'd be louder than stock, but nothing near screaming like a piece of lawn equipment haha.
I ditched my N1 canister and have never looked back. I had bought the complete Apexi N1 Catback, Rocked it for years. When it was new it wasn't to rapsy or loud, that shortly changed and it was both. For the last while I ran with the silencer in place. Also I live in North Carolina. We have mild winters as far as snow/ice goes, the back of the canister is so thin it rusted out on me 3 times and I had to have new metal welded in place. I suspect a car driven up north would have even more issues.
The piping however has held up great and still is to this day, I had the N1 muffler cut off and a Vibrant Flat black put in its place and have never looked back. The Vibrant looks way better to.
I say if your wanting to get a nice muffler, spend another 50$ and get a Vibrant flat black. There's a seller in the market that I got mine from and as far as I know he still has the deal at $99 total, free shipping.
I surely wouldn't spend 50 bucks on that N1 muffler. JMO.
