Default ECU Question - 98' Civic EX

This topic is posted for a friend. He has a 1998 Civic EX with a GSR motor that he purchased used from a guy from NOPI. The only problem is the guy before him kept the stock EX ECU. Is there any other ECU that he can get that is better than the stock GSR? The motor just has a cold air intake, and GReddy full cat-back exhuast. Any links to websites or pricing is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

if it it OBD 1 then you can get a p28 and get a chip for it. If it is OBD 2 then you can't chip it. You can get a OBD 2 to OBD 1 conversion harness. I think the conversion is around 200 bucks. You can usually get a chipped p28 for around 200 bucks also.

With an OBD2, you'd have to use a P72 right?
