Please Help. Messed up while applying bondo.
Hello fellow Honda owners.
Well, my car (96 accord ex 2 door) had a little dent in the rear fender and also its been missing the door strips for a while. Because i live in a city where everybody and their momma drives "transportations" there is not one junkyard that has this strips. the dealer does not have them anymore and i cant find them online ANYWHERE. (the only place that I've been able to find them on line was charging something like $50 a piece and there are 6 pieces.
So i decided to cover the ugly wholes with Bondo. Being the way I am i decided to do it myself (curiosity got the best of me and it couldn't possibly be THAT hard)
Anyway so i started and of course i didn't read THIS https://honda-tech.com/forums/paint-body-84/everything-you-need-know-about-autobody-repair-1962364/ so apparently i didnt put enought drier on the mix, and i also applied it very poorly. now the surface its really bumpy. also i covered the wholes with metal mesh and it looks like its goingto take some mayor skil to cover it up.
Please Honda tech ... what can i do? (keep in mind im broke)
Could i still take it to a body shop?
Wil they charge me a lot for doing the bondo only?
should i just strip the filling?
Can anyone tell me where to find the damn door strips?
Got to go .. wil ladd picture later

ur talking about the rubber line piece?? JUST BUY IT even if it cost u 50 dollar... y? becuz after you bondo the hole u need new paint job (MORE MONEY)
Bondo isnt meant to fill holes. Should have welded up the holes then done the body work. Once the bondo is removed, most likely you will have to repaint.
Thanks a lot for the reply!
The wholes are about half an ich long by a quarter of an inch wide.

Well, you need to sand down the bondo, to make it flush and smooth with the body panel. It looks like you just spread it on, and left it to dry.
The ratio hardener:filler is simple.
If you have a 2" diameter of filler, place 1/2" diameter of hardener and mix it.

use 80 grit sand paper n sand it like an X
just get 1 of those dura-block
best to get a black spray can (no gloss) n spray over the bondo area n start sanding ( X ) until it feel smooth and if there hole in the bondo (low spot it should be black cuz u spray it black)... relay bondo n repeat
after your done n it feel smooth/flat... primer it.
- spray black over it.. n sand it with 120 to look for any low spot u missed... if none. sand ur whole car with 400 n ready for paint...

Sanding that stuff down is gonna ruin your paint and if you use heavy duty grits like suggested, its probably gonna go down to bare metal. So repaint it before it rusts cause one day sitting in moisture on bare metal will rust real quick...
specially since i live in the FL keys. (High humidity and salinity)
I'v been considering taking it to a body shop .. this might be too much for me.
Some one told me they would do the bondo for $200 (no paint)
what do you guys think?
Does anyone know a cheap place in the Miami area?
