Finished my Y7 swap, started and now code 7
I just finished my Y7 swap today. I'm using all my OBD-0 stuff (i.e intake mani, dizzy, throttle body, alternator and header.
I started it up for the first time and my car immediatally jumps to 3500RPM and the tach bounces around a little bit at around 500RPM incrimants. Could my TPS have taken a **** while doing this? My car never did this before so I'm kind of lost. I know code 7 is throttle angle but what all could cause this?
All help/insight/suggestions/etc... is appreciated.

Silly question, but have you double checked everything is hooked up again? I literally did the same swap last week and I had no issues on first start. Maybe grab another throttle body from the junkyard and see if it makes any difference.
I double and tripple checked everything. I made sure the prongs were straight on the TPS. When I first tried to plug it in the prongs were bent, but I didn't think that would make any difference. All three prongs are there and the wires on the female side of the plug are nice and snug.
Do you guys think it'd be okay to use my old TPS sensor off my old DPFI motor and put it on my MPFI throttle body or could I run a Z6 throttle body?
I tried my old TPS just now and no go. I'm realllllly stuck. Would it be better just to go pick up a whole complete z6 intake mani?

calibrate your tps or pick up another one from the junk yard...a dpfi tps wount work on a mpfi manifold since they spin in opposite directions...!!!
My junkyards don't have any 88-91 civic/crx Si's around here. Unless there is another obd0 mpfi throttle body I can use that'll work just fine?
i would check for a vacuum leak. its quite unlikely that enough air could get past a closed butterfly valve to allow the engine to rev that high.
check your TPS with a multimeter. it has to be @ .50 with open ignition. ( not the car on lol)
and you can adjust it by loosening the screws and moving it a bit until its at spec..
and I believe any MPFI TPS will work but not 100% sure.

Well I got a new si throttle body today, put it on and started it......but then the same thing happens. Goes to 4k and misfires and ****. But now it's not throwing the code. So atleast I'm getting somewhere. I loosened the screws and tried to adjust it by ear but to no avail, NOTHING. Sameeee ****.
turn engine off. key in on position. black multimeter lead goes to a chassis ground. red goes to middle wire on tps sensor.
you need to "back probe" the tps plug while it is still connected to the tps sensor. you need to basically just shove the tip of the lead into the back of the plug until you get a reading.
set the multimeter to "V" the one with the dash and dotted lines not the squigly and place the selector on 20.
with the throttle closed, multimeter should read 0.5, wide open it should read 4.5 volts. get as close to these numbers as possible.
Be careful and patient. DONT do it when the engine IS HOTT.
your intake manifold did get a new gasket put on right?
and you cleaned the intake and head before putting this gasket on right?
also your tb has a gasket on it right?

This is what I'm about to do right now. My buddy put the intake mani on before the motor went in and I didn't see the condition of the gasket on there if there was any. I picked up a new TB gasket and ANOTHER new I/M gasket so I'm going to go clean away right now. Wish me luck!!!!
Bumping my old thread, but I'm still getting code 7. I'm kinda stumped. I'm going to double check and see if my wires have power and a ground, using a multi-meter. But I've boughten another throttle body with a known good TPS so I'm perrrrty sure it's not that. I've resoldered all the wires and re shrink wrapped them as well. I'm thinking maybe I have a bad connection with TPS signal out wire, the red one. I'll check that by looking at the pin on the ECU and I know it's pin C7.
You guys have any other input?

I did my MPFI swap before the motor swap and no troubles with the TPS then, now I do. Wires have not changed or anything.
