B20+T swap into a 96 Integra: Starter clicks and Clutch line caught FIRE! **PICS**
Sup all
1996 Integra
JDM GSR tranny
B20 block
1996 LS head
Generic turbo set up
I blew my B18B motor and swapped in a B20B. The head was disgusting so my friend slapped on my stock LS head.
We finished the swap yesterday and connected the harness but there are a few plugs that I cant find where they connect to. Im guessing one is for power steering since we removed it along with the air conditioning set up.
So when we crank the car, the starter makes some really loud clicks and the stainless steel portion of the clutch line gets really hot within seconds and even melted the protective plastic over it. The rest of the piping doesnt get hot though, only the SS part which was pretty confusing.
Here are a the plugs that I cant find out where they go.

THIS ONE IS HANGING OUT IN BETWEEN THE DISTRIBUTOR PLUG AND THROTTLE BODY. IT IS A 3 PIN

THIS ONE IS COMING OUT OF THE FUEL INJECTOR HARNESS AND IS A 2 PIN

ITS COMING OUT OF THE SIDE HARNESS LEADING TO THE HEAD LIGHTS AND STUFF.

AND THOSE 2 LITTLE FELLAS LOOK LIKE THEYRE MISSING A CLIP OR SOMETHING.

whats that wire in the last pic i the SS line? looks like you are arc welding that line with power and groung passing through it which is why it got hot. bad idea. get a good wire harness too. wiring looks ...well do-it-yourself for real. not tryin to give you a hard time but i would bet that both power and ground are passing through that SS line
The wire harness is fine. The heat shrink on the fuel injector wiring is from the resistor box, but its not mickey mouse. It is now electrical taped and looks a lot nicer. Other than that, the harness is uncut.
Anyways, the firing order on the spark plug wires was off and the belt was off by a tooth or two. We got it running after the spark wires were fixed but that still does not explain why the clutch line burnt.
Going for a tune tomorrow!!!

The starter was bad. I dont know why that would trigger it but after we replaced it, the clutch line was fine.
It melted the rubber shield but the stainless steel was fine.

Check the batt. to chassis and chassis to engine ground, the only reason I can see the SS line getting hot is that it is passing current, [ground] as it is connected to the engine and the cars chassis through the master and slave cylinders and with a bad starter the load was too much for the SS line. 94
