Default Fuel pump problem

For some reason sometimes my fuel pump kicks on and sometimes it doesnt. It seems to always work when engine is cold. but after its warmed up it seems that 3 outta 4 times it will work. ill shut the car off and then try again and it wont work. turn the key to off and then try again with only seconds between attempts. Also it never seems to do it when the car is already running. just when i start it.

I know most people will say main relay and im definately not ruling that out yet but its wierd that it will work one second and not the next so i dont think that would be the cause. Also i thought maybe a bad connection somewhere but if that was the case i would think there would be times when it would die while driving down the road.

Just wondering if anyone has had this exact problem or not and if there might be some other places to look before i start buying any parts.

Thanks
Josh
