pilot bearing help
hey guys... I am working on my my 89 civic hatchback with a d16a6 swap and working on replacing my clutch and transmission with an si transmission w/ an act stage 1 and street light flywheel. I was just wondering how to get the old pilot bearing out of the car. It is in there really good. I was reading the ef service manual and it says us a hammer and a pin (or something like that) and pound in one place. Is this right? I checked the faqs and there really was nothing about it. And for information sake the current bearing is from an 89 civic dx 5 speed so they are different. The clutch alignment tool has free play in there. Thanks in advance.
just give it a couple taps and move around the outer edge of the bearing back and forth till it pops out. you could use a pick or screwdriver, or do like jorsher suggested and find a socket that fits in there nicely lol.
I just set my flywheel on two boards of wood so the bearing was off the floor, found a socket that fit in the hole on top of it, and pounded a couple times with a hammer, was easy.
