man I swear this car used to be fast LOL. I was like waiting for some sort of speed and it didn't happen. Forgot what no torque feels like. However it was still fun to hop back in the old car after so long. Kept flooring it wondering if something was wrong with the car and was like why is this car not scooting around?
The car handles great and is super practical (used it to move some stuff home). Great on gas. I just remember it being quicker, maybe that's just me getting old and being used to other cars now. Shifting and throttle response are so much better than the evo haha. Anyway just thought I'd throw down a random thread because I was excited to get back in it. I hope to have pictures of both cars coming soon. They have never been in pictures together so I thought that would be sort of neat.

Yah having no torque really does suck. I feel like I could get passed on the freeway by those newer Camry's with 270hp. Not a good feeling. And it makes so much damn noise but still doesn't go anywhere.
I guess it all depends on where your driving the car. I'm sure the highway isn't the best place to feel the power the R has on tap, and yes, one of those Camry's does have a very good chance of leaving you in the dust in that scenario.
I don't know, when I went to the STI, I though torque was kind of cool too, until I went to the circuit with it. Then I was confronted with the exact opposite of what you're feeling going from the Evo to the R. I was really disappointed in how slow the STI was around corners in comparison. The R could enter, and exit the corners with way more precision and speed, the brakes were way better, and the car was so much more balanced overall. The straights were a different story altogether obviously. I found when you were in this scenario, the lack of torque in the R counted for absolutely sweet f*ck all.
But yes, on the street, I feel your pain. I'm back in another torqueless wonder now so I know it all too well, but still (to me), banging gears at almost 9K RPMs beats whizzing turbos and torque all day long. I went once, and never again.
Enjoy your R more often!

Well it's a different animal. The evo is heavy and feels that way compared to the ITR which I can sort of dice around in. Turn in, response etc much better in the R. But yet when I slam on the gas I'm just like wtf hahaha.
Let me put it this way. In the integra I can mash the go pedal and still have time to look down at the cluster etc. In the evo, if you look down while mashing on it, you are going to end up crashing the car. The car is an absolute beast on E85. Now I just have to bring the ITR to get cornerbalanced and I can start doing HPDE again wahoo! And it looks like it's much cheaper to do so than it was 4 years ago.

The ITR was pretty quick when it came out but its 10-15 years old now. You got Camry's and V-6 Mustangs and Camaros that can run with you on the freeway. My sti is a much better daily with twice the power. But I love how lightweight the ITR is and I can mash it around town without being 50 mph over the speed limit in a few seconds. Im thinking a good all motor route or JRSC and this car will be a blast to drive all it needs is a lil more power.

My ITR is actually faster then my Evo 9 MR in a straight line, but it does have a built NA K24 under the hood and a lot more raw on the track as well

Its more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow!

What does a properly put together K24 setup put down on a mustang dyno? And what's the cost? I remember back in the day wanting to source a RSX Type-R head and put it on a K24 block, but not sure if there are better options out there now.
My friend's "budget" k24/k20 drag car puts down about 295 whp at DSR. Other friend's built one k24/k20 puts down 330+.
I am hoping for around 220 on a k20 setup, haha.

I owned Evo's and an Sti and am on my 4th Type R. I just cant get enough of the car and even though its much slower in the straight line then the Turbo cars, to me it is still much more fun to drive. The high reving loud VTEC motor is just unlike any other car and has an addiction that is unmatched with any other car I have owned or driven. ;-)
or 270/190 with 7psi.
you wont hurt your engine trust me, just tune it good. you wont have to over rev that engine anymore. 8k redline turbo'd, is better that abusing an engine at 9k+ redline all slowtor.
power is what you want right? torque right? its simple, boost it.
