you could probably get 5-7 HP with just the intake cam if you were on a budget. maybe spend the money you save on the exhaust cam to get you some cam gears.

 

I was told by a friend to try the Civic Type R Intake Cam and a Skunk2 Exhaust cam...anyone done this?

 

I had a really nice combination with a b16 once. I had a 2000 j-spec ITR intake cam, stock b16 exhaust, JG EDELBROCK cam gears set at -1,+1, Spoon 2-ply head gasket, and a little more fuel. THat ***** hauled some ***. I would definitely recommend this setup for someone who wants to make a b16 scream.

 

Any dyno plots ?? hp numbers ??

 

Yeah, I'd like to know too. Anyone has dyno charts on this? Any more information on type R cams in a B16?

I think Merritt did this, but with the Skunk2 intake and ITR exhaust... Theres also a few that have gone with the JUN stg2 intake and ITR exhaust(Mike K did a dyno of this set-up before). And cat man(in his old set-up)had Spoon intak with ITR exhaust.

And a friend of mine has the ITR cams in his B16, but he says his compression is at 11.1. The car pulls really hard on his set-up. Cams love high compression
But there are a few I have talked to with just the cams alone and they say they have noticed a difference.

 

You'll notice it, even untuned. It depends on the offer you're getting. If it's about the same price as Skunk2 Stage I, I'd reccommend the Skunk2.

 

i just ordered the b16b intake cam brand new!
im gonne save up and get the skunk 2 stage 2 exhaust cam and some spoon generation 2 gears (just because i dont have any spoon products on my car)

 

They are worth it

 

it a better vtec pull but nothing like the skunk 2

 

I just got 98 CTR's in my b16a1, can't notice any huge difference at this stage, really needs tuning

 

Untuned, noticed a slight improvement in torque and you can feel it still makes power beyond 8000 rpm. Like XSi said, it needs to be tuned.
