Default prelude idle and fuel CEL

I put in a jdm h22a in my prelude and it has a weird idle, jumps but every min or so, its not constant. also after a while the CEL come on for the fuel system. I did not get the jdm ecu with the engine. could that be the problem? do i need to get mine chipped and a basemap fot the h22a or atleast the jdm ecu?

You shouldn't run the engine at all without the proper ECU, you could damage the engine. You also need to elaborate on what your CEL is, there's many things it could be.

Have you tried following the troubleshooting steps outlined in the Service Manual?

Like Kronn mentioned you need to follow the manual, it's all I'm doing and according to it it could be an injector. Check them with a stethoscope while idling to see if you can hear them pulsing or clicking. Then, test the wiring to them to make sure there isn't a short somewhere. If wiring is good, individually disconnect the plug from each injector one at a time and if the engine speed falls then that one is working but if you come across one that doesn't change the idle when disconnected then you probably have a bad one. Other than that it could be bad fuel, don't know if you had gas sitting in the tank for a while while doing the swap a little at a time in your free time.

wiring all has power. injectors all work. new gas in tank. if i unplug any injector the engine goes down. i think i just need the right ecu for the motor instead of the usdm h22 ecu.

Well, don't forget that JDM ECUs are governed at about 118mph.

^That's no big deal, you'll never go that fast and if so then you deserve the ticket. It's more like 112mph since they're all 180kph limited in the land of the rising sun.

I knew an 8 was involved somehow and I didn't feel like doing the calculation conversion. :-)

What if he goes to the track?

Well that could be something else, would need a pretty long straight to reach that high on a stock motor.

Wish I wasn't so broke from buying tools for work and having to buy a new knock sensor, good thing I get a discount on those f'ers. I would gladly sell you my JDM P13 but I need it to run the car until I can get money back into my pocket to buy a EMS.
