mini me burning lots of oil
Hi guys, I got a crx that had a b7 bottom and d15b head on it. The cam gear had spun on it and bent about every valve. I did a head rebuild and bought new valves and guide seals. Installed everything got the bitch started up and it just started blowing blue smoke out so i shut it of check a few things started it back up and there wasn't any smoke or so i thought. I then revved the motor up and blue smoke just comes pouring out but when i let it idle it doesn't smoke just as soon as the rpms get above 2000 it smokes really bad. Now all my compression numbers are about 180 across everything is timed up and installed fine. DO u think the valve seal didn't seal or do you think the oil rings are bad on this motor. I'm thinking its the bottom end because when i got the car the motor had like 2 quarts of oil in it and that was all i hate to mess with the head more if that not the problem or maybe i just ****ed up on the valve seals.
If it were the valve seals could it create a similar problem. Cause when i installed them i never felt any click like people describe. But i definitely pushed them on really hard and they seemed to be on there good, But if the seal on the inside didn't seal would oil be able to get down in it when i rev it up and the oil level goes up in the head? I'm just not sure because it was my first head rebuild and also i have no idea of the bottom end condition. Is there a way to do a test on the oil rings by taking the head off and putting oil on the cylinder wall or something to see if its pushing it off??
it shouldnt be the piston rings because they were good before right? it is most likely the vavle seal guides. could have got bent out of shape when you bent all those valves. hope this helps
