Blue smoke from exhuast, valve stems seals or Rings? b16a
So i was driving my car today and my buddy at work said he thought he saw a little blue smoke coming from the exhuast when i steped on it, i told him to drive the car to see if i could notice it but he was to far away for me to tell, i did she a little smoke but the car was cold so i wasnt sure. I have a b16a with about 70kmi.
I was just reading that it could be valve stem seals or the piston rings, Correct me if im wrong please.
Now my question is if it is blue smoke what do you think would be the issue the rings or the seals on a b16a?
which one usally causes this problem with the b16's?,
I have noticed it does burn oil, maybe a half quart every 3-4kmi. I do bring it up into vtec almost on a daily basis it is driven hard on the street. I just hope it will last till my birthday in november when i get 22k from a lawsuit, so i can either buy another motor and hook it to my trans or fix this one, i kind of want a type R just no money as of now
Also another question i let the guy drive the car, i have a 4-1 header obx high flow cat, obx 2.25 pipeing to a vibrant muffler, the car sounds like it was a blow off valve flurrting when you let off the gas, is that commen with a vibrant muffler?

If it starts to smoke as you're revving up that is probably the rings, whereas puffs of smoke at idle or as it returns to idle is more a valve seal issue. This is just my experience from having many shitty honda engines..... That amount of oil burning isn't that bad either, my old d16a6 would do like a bottle of oil in 400 miles.
yah im going to have someone drive it again so i can deff tell if its smoking, i run royal purple in it. Royal purple does seem to have some burn off just as any other oil, the car runs amazing. Im going to let it warm up and have someone jump on the gas and redline it and see what we get out the muffler
