Just buy a new one, and replace it yourselves. It shouldnt be that hard, and cheaper. The knock sensor is there for a reason.

the knock sensor is $120 which is pretty pricey and all they really do is tell u when ur motor is knocking.. there pretty pointless because on my old EJ8 i got rod knock like a ***** ****er and i never got a code for it.. im going to try and bypass it and if it doesnt work then i guess he will have to buy a new sensor.. i was just trying to help a homie out

Detonation and rod knock are two entirely different things. When you put 87 octane in a car that requires 93 what do you think keeps it from destroying itself?

Rod knock is a mechanical problem. Detonation/knock/pinging is a combustion problem. The knock sensor is designed to pick up those knocking frequencies and retard the timing on the engine to keep it from being damaged. Leave it off, or bypassing could do very serious damage to the engine. Think about whats more pricey: A 120 dollar knock sensor, or a couple grand for a new engine?

if you plan on modding your car at all, get a chipped ecu and disable it..., the knock sensor likes to be real "trigger happy" even with a few engine mods...., just do a search on the net, for more opinions on this... there are alot of them

OK so I just built a Frankenstein (h23 head with f22 block) and the h23 has a KS and the F22 does not. So what do I do? I had to use the H23 wire harness and if I leave it disconnected it will throw a code and put it in limp mode. So I kinda need to bypass it dont I? Unless there is a place to put one on the F22 block?

Any ideas?

Why don't you just get a p06 chipped ECU with an H23A basemap?? That will bypass the Knock Sensor.

Well think about it, it all depends on the ECU so if the ECU you are using comes with an engine that has a KS then that ECU is going to look for it so...

so... nothing... thats why I am asking for a solution. Like a bypass or a delete or a way to add a knock sensor to the f22 block.
