I found a red 93 GS-R (DB2) shell that I want to buy for around 700, the guy happens to have the original B17 block laying around (no head)...he wants another 200 for the block, the car had 145,000 on the dash, but the motor he says was used for about 130,000. What do you say...worth buying? It would be nice to have the original b17 in the DB2.

 

dont buy it for 200. the B17 had an issue on some blocks with the head bolt threads requiring thread inserts after over heating. they lost integrety and would strip when you torque the head down with new bolts and a good head. (the cadillac northstar engines too). if you but it, have a machine shop put in thread inserts to be safe. and you should have them test the block for you before you build it

 

hi, I own a 2002 honda civic dimension body. it has an automatic transmission and a 1.6 displacement engine. i want to replace the engine with a more powerful one or should i say a 1.8 displacement engine to gain more power. will that be advisable? thanks.................

Op, I would tell him $700 for it all. Personally I am trying to find a 92-93 gsr so I would be on it like white on rice.

 

There's most likley a reason the block is left over(refering to ricksautomotive post). 700 all in or just grab the shell and find a nice GSR engine or other b18.
