The other guys crew was adjusting his bars but he was staging, so they held the lights. You can see how llong it took for them to come down. But all in all this was a successful weekend.

BB/AF is the NHRA class for the old NHRA Sport Compact series Hot Rod cars. The class run's run's off a 8.60 index in Comp Eliminator.
AA/AF is the NHRA class for the old Pro FWD cars. They run off a 7.88 index.
The cars can run .500 faster then the index in competition. If you run faster then .500 under the index you are penalized in the next round. EXP, if you run a .7 under the index in your first round and win that round, you lose .2 on the tree in the next round. There by giving the guy in the next lane a .2 head start.
To qualify in the top of the class you need to be able to run up to 1 second under the index if not faster. Most cars can run 7 to 8th's under. It's a crazy class, lots of different types of cars. Seems like a guy named Dan Fletcher is the guy to beat if you can.

I'm still trying to figure out what class my car would fall into. I can't get an answer from anyone. I'd just like to see the index, and if I could even be competitive. I wouldn't mind giving class racing a try. Plus if I could get a few grade points, I could race at the US Nationals, which has always kind of been a dream of mine.

I assume, "I can't get an answer from anyone." means anyone at NHRA ?
Not to hi jack this thread, but I believe there are only 3 classes the Sport Compacts fit into. The two I mentioned above and the onwe Super Stock class Scott Kelly fit's into with his All-Motor Pro car. I think it's SS/EX.

Thanks for the support, Corey! We're racers, first and foremost. We love what we do, and it's still fun for us. No, we're probably not going to be competitive. It's all about setting goals for ourselves and achieving or surpassing those goals. If we should happen to win a round or two of racing in between, then it's been a productive outing!

In Super Stock:
SS/EX= Scott Kelley and pro All-Motor cars
SS/GS= Arthur Leong in a 1995 Dodge Neon current world record holder.
In Stock:
2006, 2007 Honda Civics are allowed. Super Stock also.
AF/S, BF/S, CF/S, DF/S, EF/S are all classes which allow front wheel drive.
N/S allows an all wheel drive Plymouth Laser to compete in Stock.
Keep in mind that Stock means exactly that........STOCK. There aren't too many things you can do to a car in Stock to make a lot of power. There are a lot of limitations. Once again, contact NHRA to get your vehicle type approved, and you can come out! There are plenty of All-Motor Hondas out there that could/should be able to race in Stock.
I'd like to touch on a few things regarding this. A lot of people don't have places to race their Hot Rod type cars. We decided to attempt it when Nopi walked out on us. Last year I started a campaign here on Honda-Tech to gain support of others who had Hot Rod type cars that wanted to race Comp, but couldn't forsee running on an 8.60 index. Some people don't like this kind of racing. That's fine, to each their own. I got a lot of support from people who said that they'd consider running Comp if they'd make the index more friendly. I mean hey, 8.60 means most of us would have to blow our cars up to think about being competitive. Some people make that kind of power without a problem and can repeat it over 8 rounds of competition. Others (like our team) haven't found that sweet spot in our combination yet. We've been told (by NHRA) that we basically have to go out and get our butts kicked for a while before they do an index review. Nobody else stepped up to the plate, so we decided we'd give it a try. This outing at Atco was not an attempt to be competitive, but more along the lines of showing how UNCOMPETITIVE we are. I know it sounds stupid to most, but this is what NHRA officials have told me to do. The purpose of going to Lucas Oils Atco covered the following:
Attracted sponsors who happened to see our picture on DragRaceCentral at an NHRA event. We had zero interest in us up to that point.
Gathered some points for us. We're not trying to race this car after our DD/AT car is completed. We don't want to fall too far behind, as we would just like a respectable finish.
We're gathering points so that we could be able to race in a Full Throttle event in the future.
Pretty much everything I've written here, most people wouldn't go through. Someone has to blaze the trail, and I guess I'm the guinea pig. If any of you fwd racers other than Marty Ladwig and Chris Rado want to come out and support the cause, pm me and let me know. Maybe we can share some info!
Shawn
Thanks for the background. Ryan and I have decussed this. I hope some of the H-T readers can get a better idea of what it takes to run in the class.
Good Luck with your DD/AT car. Be sure and post pictures here so we can follow it.
