Hi, i just got a 92 civic vx and i was thinking to upgrade the brakes and suspension first that anything else, i found a wreck 2000 civic si and a junk yard, my question is, can use this brake set up in my vx? if i can, what all do i need for the swap?

 

Well you need to use your stock Upper control arms for the front brakes, IIRC everything else is good for the fronts.

 

use the whole front knuckle.since its wreck just try to look and see if the knuckles r bent before getting them. whole rear trailing arms. n get the e brake cables. n get the master cylinder and booster so u dont have a crappy pedal goin to a bigger brake setup

 

thanks for the info guys, one more thing,should i use the vx proportion valve or should i get that also from the si?

 

SI ppv or EX from EG model, unless u know how to route the line around, and I think the DA's 90-93 might fits also.

 

You def. should grab the prop valve from the Si, if you dont then your rear discs wont be doin much at all. the prop valve on a rear drum setup only puts about 20% of fluid to the rear brakes as opposed to a rear disc prop valve which puts back about 35-40%. You definetly need that.
Also:::: check the booster-to-master fitment, you may need to get that Si booster too if your vx booster wont accept the Si master cylinder.. (be aware of the abs too) that 2000Si should have abs which is gonna put your brake lines in a different orientation off of the master cylinder. RULE of THUMB: masters with abs will have one line on each side. masters without abs will have two lines on the same side. you could always get a master from a similar car to the Si that would've originally had no abs like a 94 integra gsr is a good master to use on that setup. thats the way i did mine in order to keep the brake lines nice and neatly stock under the hood. (you dont want em all bouund and bent arourd to reach a differnt location just looks messy! BLAH. hopefully that was of some help.
