Default Firing on 3 cylinders constantly

Hey guys, i've a bad HG for about 2 months already. This morning when i started my car, it was starting to break up, Stalled a couple of times, but then i was able to move it. However, the car was misfiring really badly, car sounds like a WRX or something. I pulled over at a small road and checked for spark. There were sparks in all cylinders. However, when i pulled the wire off 1of the plugs, there were sparks but the idle has no difference. Also, while i was driving, the smell of gas was very strong as if im running very rich. Is my engine blown? Or is it because of the HG? The car is still misfiring constantly (idle or moving), running on 3 cylinders i assume. Need some serious help here as im pretty lost.

a compression test would be a good place to start.
you can also check that the injector is clicking/firing by cupping the handle of a screwdriver on your ear. touch the point of it to each injector, you should hear a distinct click.

also check dizzy, make sure ICM is connected properly and is working... I had the same issue with my boosted setup, would fire on 3 cyl. and would alternate between which cyl. it decided to fire on. Be carefull with it running so rich, dont want to wash the cyl. walls and/or destroy bearings. I would NOT drive the car under these conditions. HG is definately not helping you here either, like Marcin said, a compression test will reveal some answers, but if the HG is already in bad shape or leaking, you know you will be low on one or more cyl.

Im guessing its running on 3 cylinders because when i removed the wires from cylinder #4 the idle stays the same instead of dying compared to the other 3 plug wires i removed. Also, there are still sparks seen on cylinder 4. So can it still be related to the plugs/wires/distributor?

When my 97 ex was doing that, I replaced the plugs and wires, and no more "misfire," if it was me, I'd replace dist. plugs and wires, especially if you haven't replaced them in a while..
