I have an 89 CRX SI D16A6 and I have been restoring it for the last year. I have never had a starting issue till last week.

I go to turn it over and it turns fine but there is no start. I took out the spark plugs and checked for fuel and there was none. I got curious and went to start the car again and I did not hear the fuel pump. I chased all the wires and I eventually just ran a hot wire to the fuel pump and it does work. I pulled the main relay and checked it as well and it works during the check but not when it's in the car normally. The number four pin on the relay only gets 5.5 VDC when (I guess) it should be getting 12VDC. I pulled the ignition switch out and repaired some shotty car alarm job the previous owner did on the ignition switch harness but it still does not work. I get 12VDC from the ignition switch into the fues panel but only 5.5VDC out of the fuse panel Fuse #2 for starter signal. This is why the main relay does not kick over and the fuel pump does not come on. i am an electrician and this one has me stumped.

I am looking for any help with this. whether it is explaining what voltages i should have or what part i need to replace. mind you that i have checked all parts in the system already. PLEASE HELP anytime. skitzboy311@yahoo.com

 

Check fuse #14 under the dash:
It provides power to the main relay ecu etc..

 

I have checked the fuse and it is not blown but I still replaced it anyway. I also get the required 12 VDC there. I do not get 12 VDC on fuse #2 for the starter signal. I only get 5.5 VDC and I am not sure if that is what I should get.

 

does anyone else have any ideas on what could be going on?
