Default p28 auto/manual identification

hey guys i'm having trouble w/ my speedometer. anyways long story short if found the wire from my sensor to the firewall plug had a short. so i ran a temporary jumper wire. after i ran the wire the car would crank but not start and i got a code 19 (automatic transmission lockup control valve) so i'm guessing that this borrowed p28 ecu is an automatic ecu? i no longer have the code 17. i unhook my jumper wire and it starts. am i just screwed out of a speedo till i get my manual tranny p06 back? if someone could tell me how to tell if this p28 is an auto or manual by the sticker that'd be great!
