Default 2006 Civic Si: Would you get it?

Hi everybody,

I'm looking at a FG2, and I was wondering what you thought about the deal:

2006 Civic Si
57k miles
Interior great condition

Damage history:
- There's a dent on the hood because a tree branch fell on it (see pictures)
- Current owner hit a deer on the passenger side at low speed. Dents on fender, bumper cover, door ... all professionally replaced by a reputable collision center.
- AutoCheck vehicle history report states "AUCTION ANNOUNCED AS FRAME DAMAGE", but at the same time, the AutoCheck reports no accidents ...

I've done some research on AutoCheck, and there are people saying that Manheim and other auctions mark off many vehicles with frame damage to cover release them from any future liabilities. I'm not sure if this is true though.

Price negotiated to $10k

Would you be concerned about the AutoCheck report?

Does anybody have any idea what those wires coming from the positive lead of the battery goes to?

Do you think this is a good deal?

Thanks in advance

is 10k your budget? if so then i would definitely NOT get it. plus the mileage is pretty higher than expected to be. thats 10 grand youre going to dump into a car w/ frame damage. i would wait and look around.. = D

Isn't the mileage fairly standard? About 12k miles a year (4.5 years).

What are the negatives of frame damage?

If you seriously have to ask that, you need to look for a new car.

Frame is the base structure of the vehicle. Take a paper clip and bend it one way, then bend it back. It's not perfectly straight anymore and is weakened. That's frame damage on a smaller scale.

If it has frame damage....hell no. That frame damage can affect handling, alignment, and most of all the ability of the car to withstand a crash like it's supposed to do. Depending on the severity of the frame damage there's no way of telling how the car would react in the event of a crash it was originally designed to withstand. Worst case scenario.......you could literally get crushed inside your car....from an accident you were supposed to be able to survive.

a car that had frame damage, not has. like i said on 8thgen, i'd go for it. $10k is below the nada trade-in value, which makes it a pretty good deal. if you want to be 100% sure, get the car checked out at a body shop, and get the alignment checked at a tire shop. also, make sure the title really is clean.

the mileage is fine; it's a honda after all.

op, do you have any more pics of the car, such as side shots? the only reason i'd be a little worried is cuz the fender to hood gaps aren't even, which is a sign that somebody who's either lazy or incompetent repaired the car. however, $10k IS a good price.

I just called the collision center that did repairs on the car (for cosmetic damages caused by a deer).

They verified that the deer accident had caused only cosmetic damages. Also, they said that they did not notice any frame damage at all.

I'm going to schedule an appointment with them to have them specifically look for any frame or unibody damages.
