This is the first time in 3 yrs I haven't been to KS for Nationals... what a fun experience!

Great to see the Type R on top in DS where it belongs. But it was close! I'm surprised no one really challenged in a WRX up front. Also cool to see STX had enough entries to make their own class. Would be interesting to see how both street tire STX and STS classes stack up time wise. And SM finally showing more speed now, as the Supra that won last year(?) was off the pace. Congrats to those who ran at the nationals!

i noticed Jeff using Hoosiers... what Hoosier is street legal for STX? I didn't know there was one.

The South Course was an exericise in p a t i e n c e with its s l o o o o o w 180's that didn't help the VTEC cars much while the North Course was more open.
I just wanted to give a Huge Congratulations to Jeff for Winning STX and to Todd for making a Type R 1-2!! They made it look so easy.
Jeff was not on Hoosiers, it was a misprint, he was Falken-A's as was I.
The North course was just awesome!! Much more wide open with a huge slalom that just suited the R. We were barely out of VTEC. It was just a huge rush. South course on the other hand was tight with a bunch of 180's. Something I need to work on.

Looks like John Thomas is on his way to #9 in a row for EP in Lombardo's 86 Civic.

My first and only Solo II Nationals was in 93 when John started his run. Don't think about going to Nationals, make a plan and do it. It was a wild experience. You don't know how good you are until you go there.
I believe that I'm the only one who beat Thomas in an EP autoX over the last 9-10 years, but I think it was because his FD broke on his first run of that weekend which also knock Lombardo out.

Thanks to all. It was a fun time indeed. I knew if we could stay close on the first day we would own the north course on day two, and sure enough Jeff and I took the top two times on that course which vaulted us to 1-2.
Oh, and remind me to practice my slalom technique before next year!
SM had some incredible cars, and like I predicted, the M3's would rule. FWD need not apply here in a few more years.
As for STS vs. STX, STX ran in the noon heat on the two hottest days out there (Tuesday, Wed). STS got the cool days and more rubber will be down on the track for them. Not making up excuses, but the Falkens are sooooo sensitive to heat that 10-20 degrees here or there makes a world of difference on concrete because they just stick so damn well.
Although, it may rain for STS day two, which will totally skew the results. We'll see.

The biggest thanks has to go to Sean. He let me co-drive his car, otherwise I would have never even been in Topeka to begin with! Thanks again, Sean!!! I still can't believe I won the damn thing!
And about the WRX's in DS. They weren't competitive. Larry Fine, gave up driving his and drove Whipple's ITR to take 9th. I think that speaks volumes about the Scooby's in stock form!

Great driving by Jeff and Todd on Day 2! Both moved up in the standings on the North Course (not to mention Kevin McCormick who I think was 7th after Day 1). I guess the faster north course allowed the Type R's to stretch their legs a bit.
The South Course was an exericise in p a t i e n c e with its s l o o o o o w 180's that didn't help the VTEC cars much while the North Course was more open.
