Holset HE351VE Turbo CRX
Hello H-T!!
I've been around for a while and haven't really sharedany of my previous builds with the H-T community.
The car is a 1990 Honda CRX DX. It started life as a dual point, then an A6 swap, after that a Y8 and finally a B20VTEC. I built the B20 from valve cover to oil pan.
Here is what the turbo motor will consist of:
84x89
11.4:1 compression
S2 Tuner 2's
Victor X
70mm TB
Custom exhaust manifold (Mar877c specs)
Custom collector (Mar877c specs)
Holset HE351VE with a 3-4" exhaust.
31x12x4 IC with 3" charge piping
ID 1000's
Bosch 044
10 gal cell
-8 feed -6 return
All on E85
Here is what the car currently looks like...

Here is the car being tuned at IMW of PA.
231HP

Here is the car after a 3" exhaust was installed.
238HP

What I'm trying to do is get the HE351VE to be fully functional and max out the injectors on E85. I think a good amount of power can be achieved with the set-up, but HP numbers are of no concern.
Got most of the stuff mentioned above. Just waiting on the collector to get here and the fab work will begin.
PS:
Anyone with some leads on custom fuel cell set-ups?

nice!
I would go with the NRGTech fuel tank.. Its the cleanest setup I have seen.. I am not sure if they are mass producing them yet, and whether they will fit the EF.

otherwise, here is a whole thread about it.

^^Thanks for the input!
I lot of great fuel set-ups on those threads.
Anyway, still collecting more parts. Today I got the custom 4" collector for my odd turbo flange. I also received my FAL fan, man... what a nice piece.
I got the fuel regulator ordered today. I'm still working on getting the right amount of fittings and hose.
Other than that is looking pretty good. I should have the rest of the stuff in two weeks or so.
I'm also going to port the Victor X intake, probably this weekend.
Here is some pictures of some of the stuff I have so far:

The collector and flange

One of the best performance upgrades

I'll be posting pictures of the intake manifold porting process this weekend.
Stay tuned!

Are you gonna have the variable exhaust vane design functioning on your setup or leave it in a fixed position? For those that dont know, that is what that electronic box with the wires hanging out is for. It actually changes the wheel aero at the tip, so you have a small wheel that spools quick which slowly opens to a larger wheel for peak hp. Im pretty sure they are setup from Holset to work dependent on boost psi/wheel rpm but I've heard "they can also be controlled by engine rpm..." But yeah usually any Holset with V or VE in the nomenclature means that it contains this unique feature.

I guy I ran into while doing research has a fully working actuator. He has a standalone controller based off a GM 3bar map sensor. He claims he can get 22 positions out of it. I'm going to try and copy his design when is complete.
The exhaust housing goes from ~3cm^2 to ~25cm^2.
I should start to see positive pressure at a very low rpm.
Got some more porting done on the intake during the week. I Won't be able to do much this weekend, I'm checking out one of those EFI101 classes and see what is all about.
Check later for updates.
That's all great to hear Tonio, I've seen some of your other posts on here and you seem like a pretty knowledgable guy. Yes, you should definitely see boost at a very low rpm if you get it to work as low as 3cm^2, but it really goes up to 25cm^2? Not doubting ya, just saying that's a pretty large size. I hope the best for you with the project and getting the actuator to work up to your expectations. If you do, it should make for a very versatile setup with a fat powerband. What makes it even better is that it's all going into a CRX, which is one of, if not my favorite chassis. Good luck! (and ya better keep us updated, as I'll be checking back regularly lol)

Got a lot done today. Thanks to the guys at BoostWorksNY for all the help. Without them this wouldn't be possible. Anyway, on to the pictures.
Finishing up the intake

Bye bye All Motor!

Hacking the bumper...

Inside of the VGT

Got most of the front end apart. Started to mock up stuff

Got to have ARP hardware for these things...

Started to build the collector

After that we started to build the manifold

The lack of room kind of sucks, but we're getting around it pretty well. Got the manifold tacked and we started on the charge piping and intercooler. Should have that ready tomorrow. I'm also going to wire the ID's, anyone know if I need to put the wires in a certain position?

Thanks! Keep checking back!
We got some more stuff done today. Here are some pics...
Got the ic mounted

Made the inlet back door

putting some more pipes on as well as bov placement

Got the rad mounted

Everything is still tacked. Still looking into wastegate placement. I also didn't get a chance to wire the injectors. It's cool how the Rosko Racing rail doesn't need the top hats. Most of my fuel system is supposed to show up on tuesday. We will probably continue then. Check later for updates.
