Default Vtec wiring for EX sedan

I've been searching around and i havent seen exactly what im looking for. But i needed info on how to wire up the vtec and if i needed to go to obd0 or not.

-EX harness
-y8 head
-a6 block
-obd0 dizzy
-p06 ecu

I've never wired vtec, I'm sure I could do it, but I need some help. The y8 is obd2, but the dizzy is obd0, i dont know how this even works.

Do i NEED to go to obd2 for the vtec to run properly? Or do i just wire vtec?

it would be easier to just go obd1 IMO.
using the infamous P28 or the P06 (obd1)

is it running obd0 right now?

I might have been wrong saying the p06, its using the stock 91 EX ecu, PM6 maybe? Something like that.

But yea, obd0 setup according to the guy i got the car from. Vtec is NOT wired, but solenoid and two connectors are there.

well, the pm6 (stock 91 ecu) is a non vtec ecu, so youve got to either convert to obd1 and use a ecu from a 92-95 civic ex, or buy a vtec controller.

Ok, so obd0 jdm ecu with vtec, thats not a problem.

But as far as the wiring, i know the usdm engine harness for obd0 did NOT come with vtec wired in...so thats what i need to know.

EDIT: I dont like going the route of vtec controller and rpm switch or whatever. I want to hook it up as close to "stock" as possible.

all you need to do is run the wires directly into the ECU..very simple. I'm @ work right now so i can remember where they go.

*EDIT: I think it was A6 Solenoid & B4 Pressure switch?

So, get correct ecu, JDM obd0 hopefully. Then run wires from the two vtec solenoid switches directly to the ECU. Dont i have to worry about that oil jet on the block? I've heard that something needs to be removed during a mini me swap.

There is no OBD0 VTEC ecu with exception of the PR3/PWO ecu for the B16A but you'll have to add a knock sensor because it will look for that. Personally your best bet is to get a p28 OBD1 ecu and obd1 distributor and convert to OBD1.

Fair enough, like i said, im not familiar with this part of wiring. So, to make everything PnP, i'de need the following:

-p28
-obd0 to obd1 conversion harness
-obd1 dizzy (i'de need to modify the harness plug, or get the adapter)

That is basically converting to obd1, right?

Now, where is the diagram for the pinouts for the vtec solenoid to the ecu? I'de still have to do this since i dont have a vtec engine harness.

Run a OBD1 ECU! trust me! it will run waayyyyyy better!

I run the d15b with a Z6 head and run a P28 with a OBD0-OBD1 jumper. Its very easy. Get the Dizzy for the Y8 and a 4 wire O2.

The previous owner said that vtec was working a little while before i got the car. I dont really believe that due to there being NO evidence of anything. So i dont know whats going on with that, but i have to do it from scratch it seems.

Wiring the VTEC is fairly easy. depending on the Jumper harness it will have instructions. If it doesnt then just look up the pin outs on the OBD1 ECU for the vtec pressure and Vtec switch. I had to do this as my jumper harness was given to me with no instructions. The 4 wire O2 will also be marked. If i can find out the pinouts on what i did ill Post them up.

According to Bosch, they gray wire is ground (check!), the signal wire is black (check) and the white wires are for the heater circuit (check!). Looks like you have it installed correctly. I would double check that you see continuity from the ECU plug to the sensor plug though.
