Considering that you have full oil pressure going against that plate, you may not be able to really seal it unless you put on the vtec spool valve (solenoid) with a new spool valve "filter" (it's a complex o-ring with a mesh screen in one section of it). You could try taking the block-off plate off, clean both surfaces thoroughly & seal with HondaBond, but no guarantee. Let it sit for over 3 hours before starting the engine to allow the HondaBond to cure properly.

It is most certainly not plug and play. You need a VTEC ECU with VTEC wire, a VTEC head, VTEC pressure switch and VTEC solenoid. I think he means just buy the solenoid and slap it on. It'll solve you're problem without tons of work in a mini me swap

Just use squeezable gasket. It comes in a bottle and you just squeeze a line around the braket and slap it on, it hardens as it gets hot and seals.

The solenoid will seal itself of course. It is also a good start if you want to eventually mini me swap your ride. squeezable gasket is like $~5 though.

there may be a third hole sitting under the bottom of the plate but I'm only familiar with D16 series engines which are three bolt solenoids.

...Or buy $5 squeeze gasket. If you don't plan on a swap, don't mess with bolting a solenoid on there just to hold the oil.
