Default Re-torque head gasket???

Hey guys, quick question.

2 weekends ago, I helped a buddy change his head gasket on his 95 EX with a Turbod z6 in it. He didn't necessarily have a completely blown head gasket. It would just over heat only when he was really ripping on it. It basically would blow coolant out into his overflow bottle.

We replaced the head gasket and reused the head bolts. Everything was fine for about a week and then when I was driving it, I think I blew it out again. I was doing a high rpm pull in 3rd gear trying to hit redline because he was having a cut-out issue at high rpms and when we got back, coolant had blew into the overflow again.

Seeing as there is no Oil/coolant issue, only an exhaust gas/coolant issue. Would it be worth it to retorque the head bolts again?? We torqued them to factory specs and followed the correct pattern. I think we are having a problem with head lift at high rpms.

i'd just go ahead and invest in some arp headstuds. $60 from lightningmotorsports

EDIT: i guess the price went up... $100

Ah, NO. Not a T-stat problem.

As far as the Head studs are concerned. He is thinking about doing that, but for now, We just want to try to retorque.

I'll let you guys know how it goes. As long as there isn't any carbon/combustion deposits on the gasket, I think it might be OK.

I think you may need retorque it again. Does that happen everytime during 3rd gear?
