Alright here is yet another great problem with the car. The steering in my car begins to get really hard when I get down to about 10 mph or so. Not sure of what it could be, but my only guess is the rack and pinion. Does anybody have some informative info that can help me out, so I can decide what to do before I put the motor back in.

Check the fluid. Is the car making any unusual noises? It could be the pump. That would be my guess. If you are low on fluid, then you would need to refill and bleed the system. Get all of the air out. If your fluid is good, I would guess the pump. But check the tensioner on the pump, make sure its snug so the belt isn't slipping on it.

 

Thanks for the quick reply. I am going to get back out there tomorrow night and I will check all of those possible solutions. Only bad thing is I can not take it out for a test drive since the motor is pulled.

 

Well, how old is the rack? I would change things like the rack when the motor is out. But that's up to you. There isn't much you can do really to diagnose with the motor out.
