B18b1 wont hold cold idle
Ive got a 93 hatch with a b18b1 swap that wont hold an idle when cold, i have to step on the gas when cranking to start it up and keep revving until it becomes warm and still idles very low when warm, any ideas why? maybe bad iacv? i dont have a fitv since its obd2. also its running super rich.

did you check your spark plugs ? if its fould out i just had that problem about a week or two ago and i already forgot what i did to make it stop but yeah i know my dizzy is advance all the way and i open the choke screw as much as i could but yeah my car idles smooth too
Perform an idle adjustment. Running super rich sounds like it's not getting enough air (idle screw [throttle bypass screw] is improperly adjusted). Warm the engine up until the cooling fans come on. Turn off all lights, accessories, radio, heater/air, etc and keep them off. Turn the car off. Turn the idle adjustment screw in until it stops, then back it out 2.5 turns. Unplug the IAC. Start the car. Have a buddy keep the RPMs at 1000 as steady as possible then adjust the idle until it will idle at 450-500 without the pedal having to be pressed. Turn it off. Plug in the IAC. Clear the DTC (remove the back-up fuse for 10 seconds). Start the car & check your idle. Should be around 750-800 at that point.

my car is running rich too but idles fine it just bogs out when i floor it would that solve my problem ? cause b4 i had a type throttle body and it was fine but when i switch it thats when the problems started coming
You might want to start by adjusting you ignition timing back to spec, then set the idle, (recheck the ignition timing if you had to adjust the idle) then check to see how it's reacting. Do you have any kind of fuel controller installed, or increased fuel pressure? If so, turn it off or adjust back to spec before adjusting the ignition timing & idle. If you're still having a bog but not misfiring, then you may need to dig deeper.
sorry but by ignition timing do you mean the dizzy? and everything is stock with no mods and all no fuel controller or anything im thinking it could be a bad distributor
talk about thread jack, but anyway i already did an idle adjustment on the car, it idles perfectly fine when warmed up but it cant hold an idle while cold. bump
try cleaning and tightening the FITV (fast idle thermo valve). its located on the throttle body and controls the idle until the motor is warm. if your car idles fine once warmed up, im about 90% that's your problem.
