Nah dude, it's legit. I always issue checks to people for too much money. Just easier for my bookeeping that way.
Since I'm very busy and very important, I then have you wire the remaining money to my courier service. In turn, they pick up the item for me after they have received the money.
See, 100% legit. All internet transactions should be done in that manner. What could go wrong?

You shouldn't say things like that without saying that you're kidding--not everyone picks up on the intended sarcasm...

. It even details this scam on the craigslist FAQ. I thought everyone was aware of this by now.

definitely a scam, they tried that **** with my dad and the one guy i used to work with. anyone dumb enough to fall for this **** needs to be taken out back and beaten.
Scams are usually pretty easy to figure out...the names are usually really common (one time I had a guy named Ferdinand Cannon e-mail me), they don't mention much detail (i.e. they say 'your product' rather than what it is you're actually selling), and they never offer cash. It's best to be safe about it and only accept cash or paypal. If they truly wish to buy it, they shouldn't mind paying for it through something secure.
