My h22a4 engine just blew on my bb6 97' prelude. =/

I am having a real tough time finding a h22a4 to swap,
however I've found a lot of jdm h22a's and jdm h22a1's.

It seems really tempting to purchase the h22a b/c they're cheaper.

So, Is this swap possible? I heard you only have to swap the oil pump from the a4 to the a1? Is this true? What other problems should i address? OBD I to OBD II? Anything else I should know guys...thanks.

P.S. I really really want to get my baby back running.

Yes you can swap an h22a into your bb6, of course everyone is going to tell you to look cuz it is all over the forums and a very popular swap. I myself will be doing this swap this year cuz I have a 97 lude SH type. Anywho from what ive read obd-1 makes things a lot easier but it is possible to stay obd-2, just a little more work.

 

^ make sure you get the h22a from the Prelude Type-S if you are going to keep your ATTS...

 

An H22a from a Type-S is obd2 (ATTS is a BB6 only option) - Im assuming you have a base if considering a Obd1 h22a. If you do have a Type-S its going to be a bit more work than swapping over oil pumps, and dizzies; not likely worth the work trying to fit a Obd1 h22a into a Type-S (quite a few differences in the blocks, headers, exhausts, etc). Just a thought.

WTF, why do people always think that JDM H22's are all OBD1? But having ATTS is your main problem because I don't think Japan had a model other than the Type S that had ATTS. So pretty much either way your spending $$$ on either ditching ATTS or buying the Type S motor.

 

I don't have ATTS, i was looking into swapping an obd1 h22a, not the exact stock motor I have....usdm h22a4.

I know theres a couple parts I need to keep from the jdm h22a but i need a clear defined list of what those parts are...i think it was fuel pump and idk what else

 

so yeah thats what im looking for a clear cut defined list of parts i need to buy or keep off the jdm h22a to make this swap work...and another question will i pass smog?

 

If you've got an SH, you'll need to change the trans too. If not, just get a longblock.

anyone have a direct link by any chance? i search them buts it everyone saying different things. i just need to need to know what to pull out and put in. i am planning to go obd1. i can secure the entire swap including the harness, ecu, etc.....
