What? If you're implying that you can't get a muscle car that isn't wrecked for 6 grand, you're very very wrong. The right deal just needs to be found. My '66 Charger I just purchased isn't mint, but aside from needing the interior redone, it could be put on the road right now. I just worked out some carb troubles, so it runs great now. It needs a fender and some other minor body work, but since I only paid $1k for it, I can afford to do some work to it. My dad has a '66 Cuda that is pretty much original mint condition. He paid $7k for it with 62k miles on the odometer. The first car show he took it to (four days after he bought it) he had three seperate guys offer him at least $11k cash (and as much as $15k) for the car as is. The OP is looking for a project which means it will be a work in progress.

No thanks, custom hood, traction issues. Nice freeway roll races though.

The only way to do that is mounting the drive train lower and this creates ground clearance issues as well as poor axle angles and axle clearance issues.

Ask any one of them how many axles they have gone through.

268hp/232tq stock in a 2300 pound chassis sounds like too much for me.

Build one of these:

That's what I'm doing. You can build the whole thing for $5k or less and it will be faster than almost anything out there

*edit: Here is a good link to check out for building a seven: http://cheapsportscar.net/. That guy was outrunning ariel atoms with his.

It's an Ariel Atom, and it is a British designed race car, that is street legal. They usually are powered by a 1 liter Yamaha R1 engine, but they have been seen with B16B B18C and K20 or such. Fast and light... would be a good go in my books.

didn't read any of the other answers but my thoughts would be a rotary project... or theres a guy in Austin, Tx that built a FC with a 4g63T 6Bolt strapped to Mazda B2200 tranny case with gearing from a Turbo2 inside. Theres a company that makes a conversion kit can't think of the name though.
