First Q

Why do you want to remove it?

In your case, yes, it can be removed. It's the intake air bypass valve. It's to engage the second stage in the GSR's dual stage manifold. Since you're switching to a single stage manifold, it's not needed.

It is if you plan on using that stock gsr manifold with the iab function. Its all important if you plan on selling that whole intake manifold because it would be worth more.

That doesn't control the iabs.. just a fyi, at least not when i had a gsr manifold.. vac hose was routing another way, the only thing that controls the iabs is the flat round thing,

picture on the right top side of the manifold..when the gif comes up for "GSR"

http://www.ff-squad.com/tech/im/p72.im_1.jpg, This shows what your saying, however, my lines were routed another way, none the less..

I never said it controlled the iab.. the p72 ecu does. I said you need it to function with the iab. It has a sensor for it which is the iab connected to the box. Are you saying that you never need that when you had your gsr for the iab's to work? well guess what? your iabs never worked then. Your iab must have been open this whole time if your vacuum hoses weren't correctly plugged in. That box is like a vacuum. You can actually unplug one of the hoses coming from that box and it will suck your fingers. You can also she how it sucks open the throttle for the iabs on the purge solenoid when you turn the ignition to the on position. You can actually see the throttle for the iabs slowly move therefore, shutting 4 valves.
