motor mounts , never miss a shift again
tired of missing shifts on the track because of loose motor mounts? then check out http://www.jimfab.com for some preformance replacements for the 92-00 civic fronts and rear, 94-00 integra fronts and rears, 88-91 civic / crx front (rear to come soon. ) these mounts are replacements not inserts. dont waste your money on silly inserts, do it right the first time. they only cost a little more than inserts but work 10X better. front mounts priced for the budget racer at $85. 00 . and the rear ones are even less. if you mention you saw this in honda-tech we will ship them to you for free. check them out at http://www.jimfab.com

stunna shifting may be helped by installing different mounts... but slow and sure shifts = no mis shifts.

best buys ?

I just purchased some shifter bushings for my short shifter...hopefully this will improve the shifts a bit.

...and definately no miss shifts if you just take your time..you don't have to necessarily shift like a Granny...just make it smooth.
Hey Jim,
I called JT's to get your number, but, JT was not there and no body there could give me your number. Email me. I could use some of your lower mounts on my 2000 hatchback with the b16 for WC use.

they have no relation...
my thoughts exactly
now SHIFT bushings are an entirely different story.

If they move enough, the angles with the shift linkages gets all fucked up, and YOU CAN MISS SHIFTS.
This happened to a friend's Firebird. A motor mount went bad, and his tranny started shifting really wierd, and then wouldn't go at all.

Ummm...if the rear mount is bad, the whole engine and transmission can move.

while stiffer engine mounts may not guarantee no more miss shifts (im sure you can miss a shift if you wanted in any condition) engine mounts do indeed affect the feel of shifting, as the shifter is directly linked to the tranny and the tranny moves with the engine, especially during the mechanics of a shift when you let off the throttle, push the clutch in, change gears and release and throttle. engines do rock. worn out engine mounts do make gear grinding easier and thus wear out synchros faster.
but yeah, always better to be smooth, but so is a quick shift.

my motor mounts were 70000 miles and 6 years old when i put in the inserts. it helped me out a lot. the engine didn't move nearly as much as before and i used to be able to spin the tires a lot going to second but now i can't.(cuz less jerk in the engine) so i would think the mounts could help with better traction and shifting

gosh some of you are too harsh. looks like nicely made parts at good prices. and motor mounts does affect shifting. and for those with DA 90-91 with ABS units in the way for tower bars looks like jimbo here might have the ones that will clear. $60 bucks. nice price!
Doesn't seem applicable, at least with an H22, the cable shifters are mounted on the tranny. All shift motion is in relation to the tranny housing itself so it makes no difference what the drivetrain as a whole is doing. Sounds like

that's true, it does not apply to H22A's cable shifter. but all linkaged Honda's the motor mount does have an effect on the shifter.
yeah.. if you don't think it effects the shifting, next time your cruising around town, glance down at your shift lever next time you "punch" it.. it'll move....

Hey guys,
Jimfab mounts are in use on my Mazda Protege 5 as well as a number of other Mazda's in the SCCA Pro Racing World Challenge.
I will be using Jim's lower mounts ( transmission side as well as AC compressor bracket) in the 2000 Civic hatch WC car . I will be using the trick Hasport billet upper mounts as well .
We used to use delrin (plastic) or other materials in the old days to control engine movement. What Jim (Jimfab) and Brian (Hasport) are offering are much better than what I used to create for my own use in the past. They allow the proper support and virtually eliminate movement. Also, at the same time not giving a harsh or vibration filled ride. I highly recommend both brands of mounts.
I do believe the engine mounts have a profound effect on both engine and transmission reliability and durability.
You be the judge!

No one knows me on this board as I post only on Tech and FI boards. I have a 9.40 @ 156 mph CRX. I still use a stock cross member as I had not found a replacement I was willing to stake my son's life on. That is until I saw the JimFab unit. After talking to him, I was convinced and picked one up. It is absolutely bullet proof. Made extra strong with .095 chromoly steel with best welds I could ever imagine. I sent pix to FFGeoff who did the original design and development on the Z10 bar. He e-mailed me back saying he wants to market the JimFab bar himself as he thought the design was outstanding. I also saw a sample of Jim's motor mounts and will be switching to them within the next month. They will hold my high whp motor much better than my current mounts.
Sorry for the intrusion into your board but I thought you guys would like some real world feedback.

well, Roger is raving about them and last I checked his protege is a road racer not a dragger, so maybe the parts are worth checking out .
