Default GSR compression test results

hello h-t. i was concerned about the well being of my motor. So i did a compression test to see exactly how it is. The results are 180 give or take a few across the board.

How good is that??
what are the ideal numbers for a B18C1? give or take a 100000 miles on the motor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Not very good. You sure you did the test right? If so your compression is a little low and I would be thinking about a rebuild in the future.

That's a little bit lower than normal but I wouldnt be too worried about it. From what I've read the key thing is for all cylinders to be close in terms of psi when you do a compression test...and all of yours are close to 180...so you're ok. Just my opinion...for a solid answer get a Haynes Manual and see what it says.

thats what i was thinking i thought the numbers were supposed to be close to the horsepower. so i thought 180 was good condition. is that wrong? as long as all cylinders are close and they were within 5 on all tests

How to do a compression test:
https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-integra-6/how-compression-test-done-76154/

I pulled that from the FAQ's. I don't know what the gsr's numbers are supposed to be. The compression number has no direct connection to the engines HP. You want all the cylinders to be within 10 or 20 psi (Can't remember)of each other.

A rebuild is a full engine rebuild not just replacing gaskets. To see better compression numbers you need a good seal in you pistons rings, valves, and head gasket.

In my opiniion you are in no trouble. 180 average is fine. Check out those links AcuraLsSe posted. You learn what you need to know. A leak down ttest is what you need to do.

yeah 180 is fine. as long as youre not i think 28 psi between any cylinders you should be fine. i hae to check on the 28 number though. but i know thats what some engines are. if youre close between them all being the same i think your fine. rebuild is like 1500 in this shop for just the rebuild. 3-year warranty. but that dont include labor or the required parts for the warranty. like as much as 500 in parts and the labor is like around 700. a true rebuild can be pricey but thats a true rebuild-not a good junk yard motor from hmotors or the like.

So what do u mean?? a rebuild at ur shop costs 1500 but doesnt include labor or parts. so whats the 1500 for?? Wheres your shop? what is a true rebuild? lol ur the first guy i heard who said hmotors has good junk yard motors.

id like to thank everybody for their inputs. i wasnt expecting a fresh brand new motor results but i didnt think it was super bad. Ya i put the dye in on thursday and im gonna perform a leakdown test on tuesday.

Put dye in what? You don't use any dye for a leakdown test. You put the cylinder you're testing to TDC compression stroke and see if it holds pressure.
