Sounds like it may be the ignition switch. There is a write here somewhere how to check it with a volt meter. GL

If I give it gas still just dies out

and I look for the one on the ignition switch and check it

this frustrates me cause it could be so many things

try this if it works. Just wire a power wire to the fuel pump sensor. Take off the sensor from the fuel pump and wire a power wire to the yellow wire. If you did it properly you'll hear the fuel pump on. My friend had this problem. He did what i told him to do. If this solve your problem, you might need to wire the power wire to a switch.

This happened to me when I first bought my EG, and it was the fuel pump, but then again the car was sitting for over a year

When you turn the key to ON(II), do the dash warning lights turn on? Does the CEL turn on and then off after 2 seconds?

As mentioned by dognutz, it sounds like a bad ignition switch. What year?
