whats going on honda-tech???...well i really need yall help...im very very confused...im workin on the process of making my b20b a b20 vtec...so i just bought a jdm b16a head from one of my boys...he told me it was a 2000 jdm b16a head...so im tryna order a head gasket and a valve cover gasket but when i did my research it says that a b16a comes out of a 98...so idk whether to just order the gaskets from a 2000 honda civic si or what???...im so confused...please honda-tech help me out...thanx for your time...

 

..out of a 98? b16A's no number as far as i know only went in older 92-95ish civics from across the pond.

and no b16a2(more likely what you got.) came out in 98. maybe in jdm land though i don't keep up with cars i can't have.

but to answer the question del sol vtec, or 99-00 civic SI will work.

 

There are b16a's that came in 98. I just ordered one from HMO and it's obd2a .. Came out of the ek4 . As for the parts I thought b series would have mostly interchangeable parts but don't quote me. I just bought stuff from 00 si to change on my new motor so I'm kinda in thesame boat as u lol.

All B16 heads are the same, regardless of year and what country it came from. The B16a was made from 1989 till the year 2000

Not sure which head gasket you need, i'd just buy one from Golden Eagle

as far as gaskets go a b16 is a b16 However....
in doing a B20 Vtec you need to used a B20 head gasket...
and yes b16a comes in obd0 obd1 and obd2
the obd2 b16a came in the EK4 SiR and the B16b came in the EK9 CTR
you can get a b20 and LS vtec kit that comes with the gaskets and ****

yea cuz wen i chekked it said it had a b16a from 98-00...so dats y i was confused...

 

If your really concerned about what year head it is, there are casting dates above the exhaust ports, but as stated above, get the gaskets for a LS/B20 vtec kit.

 

The year doesn't matter, but if you want to know how old it is, here you are....
