Going back to stock - exhaust...
Car is a 2000 civic coupe, with an aftermarket exhaust (probably a Greddy). The car is loud, annoyingly loud. Would like to switch it back to an OEM exhaust, but was thinking it would be too difficult finding one in good condition, or even worth buying.
I was thinking, is it possible to retain the existing piping that is already under the car, and just replacing the muffler (axle-back) portion with something that is quieter (hopefully OEM quiet).
Budget is somewhat tight, so hopefully its pocket friendly suggestions that are offered.
Could a muffler shop fabricate something up and have something bolted on that would help with a quieter car? Or could I just simply find somebody with a OEM muffler laying around and hope that it'll bolt up with the aftermarket piping under the car?
Any help is greatly appreciated...

If you want OEM quiet then swap the whole system for OEM. The car isn't so old that finding a used but good condition one would be too difficult surely? Getting a custom back box made would give you the option of specifying what sound you want, or look for a quieter bb ( mugen twinloop? ) hth
