Type R LSD in a GSR Trans?
I get mixed answers on this topic so here is what I want to know.... I have a S80 GSR Tranny non-LSD, of course i'm looking for a LSD to swap into it. I seem to come across Typr R LSD's for sale. So my question is will a Type R LSD swap right into my tranny without needing to need new shafts of final drive gears of anything else? Also does it matter if it is a JDM or USDM LSD? What would be the best LSD to buy for a simple install into my tranny? Any info is appreciated..... Thanks
there are 2 different type r diffs. 14 bolt clutch type is a ctr diff, 10 bolt gear type is a itr diff. I found out the difference the hard way as I need a 10 bolt and cant find one
It will go in no prolem, final drives are the same, if you would like to swap your matching final drive from your non-LSD to the type r diff that also count hurt. Matching couter shafts are final drives are always a good thing
I know that honda trannys will be differant in as far as roller bearings, taper bearings,
I like gsr diffs have the big I.D. ring gear, in turn the jdm lsd helitical uses the same I.D. ring gear............I get 10 to 12 hits on stock tranny gears......1.58s 60fts all day. I haven't broke one yet (knock on wood) but for next build going ppg with a better lsd. But back on topic GSR tranny ring gear is most likely to have Big I.D. ring gear.....
