Gt3 rotas tire size?? help
Im looking to buy some rotas and they have 215-45-16 mounted on them. I rarely see this and motly people run 205. Im planning to put these on my Dc2 teg. Was wondering whats the difference between 215 and 205 and what would be best? plz let me know.. Thanks
height & width difference. depending on wheel offset they may or may not rub. the size works on a teg but it's seriously as wide and tall as you would ever want to go. mount em up and see if you have any issues. as long as you aren't really low you shouldn't
10.
Seriously speaking, though, either size should work without rubbing, either on an Integra that has been moderately lowered. On Integras that came with 15" wheels, the outer diameter of both 16" sizes (205/45-16 and 215/45-16) is within 1 percent of stock.
The big consideration between the two is tire availability. A lot more street tires are available in 205/45-16 than in 215/45-16. Most tires come in one size or the other, but not both. So when you need to buy tires, get whatever tire you want, in the size in which it's available.
Go ahead and buy the wheels and use the 215/45-16 tires that are on them. Once you use them up, decide what to buy, and if you want to switch to 205/45-16 at that point, you can. But I wouldn't toss the tires that are on them just because they're 215/45-16.

The wheels im trying to get are Gt3's that are 16". Not sure what diameter or offset these come in usually. And I want my car lowered as much as I can, as long as I dont rub my lip on bumps or V steep driveways.
Then you may need to use 205/45 for the added clearance compared with 215/45.
Make sure the wheels are 16x7, because 16x8 is too wide to mount 205/45-16 tires on safely.

IF the wheels are 16x8, should I just not buy the wheels then cuz they gonna be wide looking on a teg? And what do you mean by " for added clearance" ?
He said the wheels are 16x7 he believes.

However, it sounds like the wheels are 16x7, which is not a problem for either tire size.
Incidentally, if you need to measure the wheels to figure out their width, it is measured at the bead, i.e. the indent in the wheel where the inner edge of the tire sits. It is NOT measured from the outer edge of one lip to the inner edge of the other lip.
The first number in the tire size is the width of the tire. A 215 tire is 10 mm wider than a 205 mm tire, so with a 215 there will be less clearance in the wheel wells due to the extra width. Similarly, the sidewall height of a 215/45 tire is 215*.45 = 96.75 mm, which is taller than the sidewall height of a 205/45 tire, 205*.45 = 92.25 mm. Thus the 215/45 tire is taller (larger diameter) and there is less clearance. To avoid rubbing, you need as much clearance as possible. You can use either of these sizes on an Integra with moderate lowering (up to 1.5" and often even 2" is not usually a problem) but if you lower your car drastically, every bit of clearance is important. The 205/45 tire will give you more clearance, and less chance of rubbing, than the 215/45 tire. But as long as you don't go crazy with the lowering, you can use either size.

They're kinda small, but if your car is lowered you need them to clear the height difference. Im running 205 50 on 15's. Thicker tires but smaller rims. BTW my car is pretty slammed and rubs whenever I turn.
The speedometer will read high, and the odometer will show more miles than the car actually drives.
Also, that short of a sidewall could leave the wheel more susceptible to pothole and curb damage, and will reduce ride quality a little.
Currently running 205/40-16 tires on my DC2. Other than the car only going 47 when the speedo reads 50, no real issues. I am terrified of potholes though...
I say, buy the wheels if you like them and they are not 8" wide, run the tires already on them, but replace them with the correct size when these wear out.
Thanks for the inputs guys. I think im just gonna pass on these wheels. Ive seen others sell better set up with nicer rotas for same price. Im gonna pick up some fresh mint blades tonight hopefully.
