tire size help needed
i just ordered 16x8 +20 xxr 531 and they are going on my 96 gsr that will be pretty low but not on the ground iv heard from some ppl go with a 205/40/16 and others say go with a 195/45/16 need some help and my rear quarters are rolled
215/45-16 is the only correct common tire size for those wheels on your car. 225/40-16 would be fine if you can find any in that size (very uncommon).
The sizes you listed are too small in diameter for an Integra. 205/45-16 would be a valid size, but not on wheels that wide (7.5" max).

Im on 205/45 cus i want the contact patch. If you want more clearance get 195/45. The lower you are, the more clearance you probably want. 40's are too skinny for ME and imo only work for integra's the lower you are. Read: tucking tire.
Regardless of the tire section width, the size of the contact patch is exactly the same. The only things that change the size of the contact patch are the vehicle weight and tire pressure.

205 is wider than 195 and that is my preference. However it should be mentioned that some tires still run larger than stated. But that would get down to technical measurements. Of course there are gonna be variables that affect contact patch including camber and driving scenario but i wasnt making the comment based on variables outside the tires physical size. In regards to safety, theres plenty of previously discussed threads on it and the op should read up on it and at least be aware of what he's deciding on.
Stance guys can disagree but theyd be wrong. The difference is they choose to take their risks or chances. Some extreme, some lesser.

What part about this didn't you read? Why bother asking a question if you're just going to do something stupid and not follow advice anyways?
Guys,
205/40-16 tires are usually approved for 8" wide wheels.
205/45-16 tires, for whatever reason, are usually only approved for 7.5" wide wheels.
Now, 205/40-16 is the wrong size for an Integra. The speedometer and odometer will be off, and the car will have a larger fender gap than if the correct sized tires were used.
But at least the OP isn't doing something dangerous to others like running stretched tires.

A 205/40-16 sized tire is too small in diameter for an Integra. 215/45-16 is the closest 16" tire size to the original diameter (ever so slightly too big). 205/45-16 is close enough (slightly too small). 205/40-16 is too small.
This is all in the tire forum FAQ...
Also, just saying "205/40" is meaningless. 205/40-17 is the right size an Integra.
